Four teenage South Australians are among 45 young female footballers who have been invited to showcase their skills for recruiters at the AFLW Draft Combine.
South Adelaide’s Montana McKinnon and Hannah Munyard, West Adelaide’s Madison Newman and Woodville-West Torrens’ Jaimi Tabb have all caught the eye of AFLW clubs and their talent scouts and will head to Melbourne from October 1-3 for the Combine.
The AFLW’s reigning premiers — the Crows — currently have five picks in this year’s AFLW draft and will be sure to be looking at these four players.
The Combine will test players’ skills, agility and strength through a series of tests including the 20m sprint and vertical jump, along with goal kicking and marking tests.
The AFL’s head of women’s football Nicole Livingstone said the Combine was the final chance for players to showcase their skills before the 2019 AFLW Draft.
“The Draft Combine will see the country’s best young female talent showcase their skills on and off the field in front of AFLW club recruiters,” Livingstone said.
“Following a successful 2019 NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships, club recruiters will get their final chance to assess on-field skills as well as conducting one-on-one interviews with players throughout the week.”
Among the 45 players who will attend, will be two father-daughter eligible players in Isabella Grant (daughter of Australian Football Hall of Fame member and former Western Bulldogs captain Chris Grant) and Millie Brown (daughter of former Geelong Cats player Paul Brown).
