Are you going with the flow and picking favourites, or is it time to take a risk and tip an upset or two to try to make up ground on the leaders in your tipping competition?
It’s that time of the year, and round 17 could be make or break for tipsters, with almost every game containing a strong favourite.
It’s a fair bet that the leaders in most tipping competitions will be tipping West Coast, Sydney, Hawthorn, Adelaide, Geelong, Richmond, Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide this week, with the only head-scratcher being the Essendon v North Melbourne clash.
The Bombers are a slight favourite among tipsters with a 17-13 split. But for the other eight games there are strong favourites, starting on Friday night in the AFL grand final rematch with the Eagles a near-unanimous tip to beat the Magpies.
Only Fox Footy commentator Brad Johnson is tipping the Magpies.
It is a similar story in the early game on Saturday, with the Swans favoured at home by all except Johnson over Carlton.
Geelong is the unanimous tip to beat St Kilda, while only Clare Lindop thinks the Gold Coast can defeat Adelaide on Saturday night.
Just five tipsters have taken Fremantle over Hawthorn in Melbourne.
If you need to pick an upset or two, Sunday’s games could be the ones to go for, with five tipsters liking the Giants against Richmond, three taking the Demons against the Bulldogs and five backing Brisbane in the last game of the round against home team Port Adelaide.
So, is it time to make your move?
