Melbourne has regained Steven May, Tom McDonald and Jack Viney for its minor premiership decider against Geelong, which has named Gary Rohan, Gryan Miers and Tom Atkins.

Cats coach Chris Scott said Zach Tuohy (hamstring) wasn’t ruled out of playing next weekend given he is “trending the right way”.

Mitch Duncan (knee) “has knocked off every milestone really well” on his return but is in doubt for the qualifying final.

With the pre-finals by now sent back to be used at some point in the finals series, Scott said that had impacted the chances of Duncan and Tuohy racing the clock to be fit for the first final.

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin said he “won’t be hiding anything” in the high-stakes finals dress rehearsal against the Cats.

He acknowledged the prospect of a rematch with the Cats at some point in finals but said this week would provide his team a “full audit” n where they sit against a premiership rival.

“After that we know we are going to be stepping straight in to finals. We want to continue building momentum,” Goodwin said.

“We won’t be resting players unless they’re sore.

“Building a winning culture and mindset means a lot to me. If that means we end up winning the minor premiership then it’s an outstanding achievement.

“We’ve got bigger things we want to achieve.”
