Paddy McCartin is almost certain to miss Round 1 while Dylan Roberton faces an anxious wait

After yet another concussion, Paddy McCartin is long odds to be available to take on the Suns in Round 1 while teammate Dylan Roberton’s immediate future also remains clouded.

St Kilda forward Paddy McCartin is almost certain to miss Round 1 as he tries to recover from yet another concussion.

McCartin still hasn’t returned to training following Sunday’s incident against the Western Bulldogs - his eighth concussion in five seasons.

The former No.1 draft pick spent Sunday night in hospital alongside teammate Dylan Roberton, whose immediate future also remains clouded.

Roberton faces an anxious wait, knowing a bad set of test results from his latest heart scare could endanger his career.

The defender, who collapsed during a game against Geelong last season and had an implant inserted into his chest, told Saints medicos he felt “wonky” late in the Bulldogs game in Ballarat.

He is said to be optimistic and a naturally positive person, but both he and McCartin will be treated with the utmost caution by the Saints.
