Adelaide Crows legend Andrew McLeod to coach Norwood reserves team in SANFL

ADELAIDE Crows legend Andrew McLeod will take charge of SANFL premier Norwood's reserves in 2014.

CROWS legend Andrew McLeod's journey into coaching is about to get serious with the dual Norm Smith Medallist taking charge of SANFL premier Norwood's reserves.

McLeod, who played 340 AFL games from 1995 to 2010, was involved as a line coach at The Parade in 2012 but on a casual basis.

Now he's set to form part of a new-look panel at Norwood headed by two-time premiership player Ben Warren who replaces AFL-bound Nathan Bassett as senior coach.

"It's fantastic, Andrew was involved in 2012 as a line coach with the seniors but his time was limited due to other responsibilities," Norwood football manager Mark Ross said.

"And he came in late because Scott Borlace got a job with the Brisbane Lions, but he wasn't able to commit as many hours as he or we would have liked.

"Certainly his footy knowledge and ability to get a message across to players has been really good in the past so it's an exciting move for us.

"He'll certainly have a young group to work with and will be a good mentor to those players."

McLeod replaces Andrew Leochel who took the reins of Norwood's reserves following Jarrod Cotton's sudden departure this season.

Ross said the Redlegs wanted Leochel to remain involved at The Parade.

"He did a fantastic job," Ross said.

"He's an outstanding young man who has some magnificent coaching abilities."
