Police were called by a prestigious Adelaide girls school after an incident involving a parent on campus.
It is understood the mother attended Walford Anglican School for Girls’ Hyde Park campus at the end of last week, and police were called.
An email was sent to parents confirming there was “an incident involving a parent on the secondary school campus”.
“The individual was promptly removed from the site and all necessary measures were immediately taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and community,” the email said.
About 400 girls are enrolled at the top school, which charges $32,520 for year 12 tuition.
When approached by The Advertiser, principal Deborah Netolicky issued a statement saying the “safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority”.
“We can confirm that we recently advised our school community of an incident involving the actions of a parent,” she said, adding that SA Police were “notified following the incident”.
“Immediate measures were taken to respond promptly and thoughtfully, ensuring safety and providing pastoral support to our students and families.
“We communicate behaviour expectations regularly and respond swiftly to allegations and incidents in accordance with our policies and codes of conduct.”
Walford’s parent code of behaviour outlines expectations including that parents “behave respectfully at all times” toward staff, students and other parents and raise grievances “in an appropriate, constructive and respectful forum”.
No charges have been laid and no investigation is being pursued.
