Blackwood High School teachers rank year 12 students in viral TikTok video

Adelaide high school teachers have been filmed ranking their students in a viral video – and the principal says it’s all innocent end-of-year fun. Watch it here.

Blackwood Teachers Rank Students

A video of Adelaide high school teachers ranking their students has gathered almost half a million views on TikTok.

A group of Blackwood High School students went around the school asking their teachers who their favourite year 12 student was – and the teachers had answers.

While some teachers wouldn’t answer the students’ questions, others happily disclosed their favourite student or students to the girls, who filmed them and posted the video to TikTok.

The Blackwood High principal school said teachers weren’t aware the video would be posted online.

The video so far has more than 400,000 views and 34,000 likes.

It comes amid a spate of TikTok videos asking about the “hottest students” on campus have gone viral on the app.

That video trend sees students going around their school asking other students who the “hottest” person at their school is and have been criticised for rating male and female students on their appearance.

The TikTok account responsible for posting the video of Blackwood High School teachers ranking their students has also taken part in the “hottest students” trend, posting a TikTok asking male students “who’s the hottest girl at Blackwood is”.

Blackwood High School principal Sharon Goldman said the videos were “innocent” and it was “engaging to see staff and students interacting in such a positive way at the culmination of students’ schooling career”.

“The teachers were aware they were being filmed, but were not aware the video would be published on a public social media platform,” Ms Goldman said.

“They generally believed it would be used in a ‘end of year’ graduation celebration video shown within the show only.”
