Former Magill Training Centre site on Glen Stuart Rd, Woodforde, up for sale
CALLING all developers - a 19ha site on prime land in the eastern suburbs is up for sale.
THE former Magill Youth Training Centre site in Woodforde in now on the market.
The State Government is calling for developers to express their interest in buying the 19ha site, which is earmarked for a 250-home development.
Renewal SA chief executive Fred Hansen said the former training centre buildings would be demolished late this year and housing lots were expected to be sold from late 2014.
The site sits on the western boundary of the Adelaide Hills Council area and shares a border with Campbelltown Council.
Plans for the Glen Stuart Rd site include shops, offices and a childcare centre.
Under the housing plan, the minimum block size for affordable homes would be reduced from 500sq m to 130sq m.
The minimum block size for other homes would be 180sq m.
The development is in line with the State Government's 30-Year Plan, which predicts a population increase of 560,000 across greater Adelaide.
The planning changes still need to be signed of by Planning Minister John Rau.
Residents raised some concerns during public consultation on the plans in June, including that the proposed development could cause traffic problems and change the character of the area.
