Interest rate hikes, recent inclement weather and a shortage of available homes to choose from are not stopping househunters from turning out in droves in a quest to find their dream home.
Anton Williams, of Ray White Glenelg, said he had 166 groups through his resort-style 56 Walkers Rd, Somerton Park, home during its first weekend of opens. Mr Williams said for those who inspected the stunning home there was nothing holding them back.
“It’s a full demographic mix of local and interstate buyers – from both small and large families to young couples to middle-aged couples as well,” Mr Williams said.
“We have a few overseas buyers as well who have shown interest in the home.”
Harcourts Packham director James Packham said current stock shortages gave buyers significantly less choice but that that worked in sellers’ favour, fuelling demand, and in turn, driving prices up.
“Stock levels on the market continue to follow trend on previous years with less stock available over winter,” he said.
“Adelaide typically sees a surge of homes hitting the market through spring and summer. August is a great time to put a game plan together if you are looking to move before the end of the year.
“We continue to see properties sell at premium prices, with records being achieved across many of our suburbs.”
Turner Real Estate managing director Lachlan Turner said would-be sellers looking to get top dollar for their property should act now.
“The busiest time of the year in real estate is almost upon us,” he said. “If you are considering selling, the Adelaide market is the most resilient in the country and now is the time to start any preparation that may be required.”
So, where exactly are buyers looking? Well, specifically, they’re looking at the 10 homes below.
According to PropTrack, these were the most viewed SA homes on realestate.com.au this week. And, having a look at what they offer, one thing becomes clear – buyers want family homes on big blocks.
A word of warning if you’re looking to buy one of these though – act fast! These beauties won’t stick around for long!
