A passion to create a property as unique as he was has led to North Adelaide’s Brenton Griguol’s Tynte St home being named one of the best in the state.
His home, the former Daniel O’Connell Hotel, was crowned 11th best in this year’s Top 50 Homes as compiled by The Advertiser’s real estate team.
The list celebrates the diversity of SA’s architecture, celebrating its boldest designs, most impressive character residences and innovative sustainable builds.
Mr Griguol said he was proud to have his home featured on the list.
“Every time someone comes through that’s never been through, they go ‘wow’ and that means a lot because it feels like all your hard work has amounted to something,” he said.
“I’ve never become blase living here because every day I’m here is a new experience.
“It’s a piece of history that I’ve turned into one of the most eclectic homes in Tynte St, and possibly North Adelaide in a way.”

The home features a front bar, seven living areas and has been set up as something of a motorsport museum.
“It’s a big toy shop and that’s just the way I am because I’m still young at heart,” Mr Griguol said.
This year we selected a breathtaking new build at Lockleys, dubbed The White Lotus by its selling agents, as our top home for the year.
