Ranked: SA’s 50 top-selling real estate agents, according to REB

We’re in the midst of a hot pandemic residential property market. But to get the best price, you need a great real estate agent. Here’s SA’s Top 50.

How to deal with real estate agents

Harris Real Estate has taken out the top three places – and four out of the top five – in the prestigious 2021 Real Estate Business Top 50 SA Agents report.

The report required agents to submit figures from their settled residential sales across 2020.

According to the report, Harris Real Estate’s Simon Noakes was the state’s top performer for the year, selling more than $132m worth of residential property.

Mr Noakes – who this week with agents Angelo Nickolas and Callan Eames (who ranked 17) farewelled Harris to launch new agency Noakes Nickolas – said managing buyers’ and sellers’ expectations in a hot market was challenging.

“A lot of my clients have almost got buyer’s fatigue because it’s so difficult out there, and it’s so emotionally draining missing out at auction week after week – buyers get disheartened and as agents, it’s really important to help those buyers,” he said.

Fellow Harris agents Angelo Nickolas and Arabella Hooper claimed second and third place respectively, while Tom Hector came in at number five, edged out by Harcourts Smith’s Kate Smith.

Ms Smith said she had recorded her best year ever, but understood the boom would pass.

“The difference between great agents and exceptional agents is their ability to adapt to the changing market,” Ms Smith said.

“The market’s great now and it will get to the point where it will shift, but people will always need to buy and people will need to sell – you just adapt to the pace.”

In compiling the report, agents were ranked according to the number of properties settled, the total dollar value of settled properties as well as the average sale price of properties sold, and the data was verified by Momentum Intelligence to ensure accuracy.

Had the report not relied on agents to self-report their results, it’s likely some of SA’s other prominent real estate agents like Williams Real Estate’s John and Stephanie Williams, Ouwens Casserly’s Cynthia Sajkunovic, Booth & Booth’s Jamie Brown, Fox’s Marina Ormsby and Klemich’s Matt Smith, to name just a few, would have made the list.

Mr Noakes said he was looking forward to Noakes Nickolas serving wider metropolitan Adelaide and had Harris managing director Phil Harris’s full support.

“Phil Harris is undoubtedly one of, if not, the best real estate practitioners in Australia and we were so fortunate to learn under him,” Mr Noakes said.

“We’re blessed that we’ve had seven great years together.”
