Tiser Explains: How to bid with confidence at auction

Adelaide is set for another bumper weekend of auctions, with 149 properties set to go under the hammer across the state this week.

According to PropTrack data, 139 of these are in Adelaide’s metro area, with the other 10 in regional SA.

We streamed 11 of these here on Saturday, courtesy of auction streaming and bidding service Gavl.

According to PropTrack data, SA’s top five auction suburbs for the week are Parafield Gardens with five auctions, and Adelaide, Prospect, West Beach and West Croydon with four each.

PropTrack economist Angus Moore said nationally, auction volumes were down 15 per cent on this time last year, driven in part by delayed Victorian sellers coming out of lockdown last year and choosing to sell in November, but that activity will be strong in the coming weeks.

“Auction markets will stay busy throughout the next few weeks as we hit the usual seasonal peak of property market activity in late spring,” he said.

“Nonetheless, volumes look set to remain below last year’s levels, given the extremely busy conditions (and compressed spring season) we saw last year.”
