Aniko Group: Prolific Gold Coast developer completes Hope Island projects ahead of launching giant Mermaid Beach towers

A prolific developer has completed two of its outstanding projects ahead of breaking ground on a giant four-tower mega project next to one of the Gold Coast’s busiest shopping centres.

Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

Prolific developer Aniko Group has completed two major projects as it prepares to embark on its biggest ever – a $2bn, four-tower mega development at Mermaid Beach.

Work has finished on the $60m Grant Ave townhouses and the $170m Athena Quays projects at Hope Island, among $500m worth of projects in the suburb the developer has completed in the past five years.

Aniko managing director George Mastrocostas said only a few units remained on the market, with most having already sold and settled.

“Hope Island has long been a destination for those seeking a premium lifestyle, and this development reflects that demand by offering luxury waterfront living at an accessible price point,” he said.

“The sellout of 35 Grant Ave highlights the continued demand for sophisticated and functional homes in sought-after locations like Hope Island.

“This waterfront development is part of our broader vision to enhance the quality of life for residents and contribute to the ongoing revitalisation of the area.”

With the completion of the two northern builds, the Southport-based developer is now turning attention to its Mermaid Beach project – The Landmark.

The development will feature four high-rises, with a 53-storey supertower at its heart.

The first stage will have 240 units of two and three bedrooms.

Mr Mastrocostas said there had been a strong response to the company’s expression of interest campaign ahead of construction beginning in the first half of 2025.

“We are pleased with the momentum we’ve built with 35 Grant Ave, and we look forward to bringing our focus to delivering The Landmark in Mermaid Beach, which is set to be a game changer for the Gold Coast on an international scale,” he said.

The $2bn complex, which is expected to be the largest to launch to the market in 2025, will feature three residential towers of 25, 30 and 40 storeys respectively, along with a 53-level supertower to include “a mix of hotel suites and private hotel branded residences”.

The project will be built on a 1.1342ha site on the corner of Seaview Ave and Gold Coast Highway, next to Pacific Fair. The sale of the site to developer Aniko Group settled in April for $32.5m, two years after the deal was initially done.

The development will also include 11,000 sqm of office space, the largest since Oracle was completed in the late 2000s.

The project was approved by council despite the objections of some Mermaid Beach residents.
