PREVIEW: ADELAIDE HOMES GOING TO AUCTION
There might be fewer homes going under the hammer this weekend, but that doesn’t mean the auction action won’t be any less exciting.
PropTrack data shows by the end of the weekend, 152 homes will have been auctioned in SA – up 77 per cent on this time last year – with 147 of these from Adelaide’s metro area, and the other five from regional SA.
Despite being up on this time last year, this PropTrack economist Anne Flaherty said auction numbers were down across the country this weekend on last week.
“This coming week looks set to be a quiet one for auctions, with the number of auctions set to take place considerably lower than the levels seen over previous weeks,” she said.
“Auctions are up year-on-year, though this is comparing to the lockdown periods that took place 12 months ago.
“NSW has seen the largest drop in scheduled auctions, down 29 per cent from last week, while Victoria is down 23 per cent.
“Rapidly rising interest rates are likely playing on buyers’ minds and could be contributing to the slowing selling activity.
“Despite this, the number of properties hitting the market is expected to gradually pick up over the coming month as we head towards the spring selling season.”
The biggest suburbs for auctions this week are Para Hills with six, followed by Seaton with four and Flagstaff Hill, Glenelg North and Goodwood with three each.
Among those homes going under the hammer this weekend are the three-bedroom family stunner at 36 Day Drive, Pasadena.
Set on a 563sqm allotment in a popular suburb close to great shops and amenities, this fully renovated stunner’s bound to attract attention when it hits the auction block at 9.30am Saturday.
Then, a few hours later at 1pm on the other side of town, a neatly presented and gorgeously updated Birkenhead bungalow at 21 Close St goes under the hammer.
This 1925-built home sits on a spacious 772sqm allotment, has three bedrooms and carries an auction price guide of $790,000.
Bikenhead has grown increasingly popular in recent years through gentrification and the ongoing revitalisation of the Port, so expect this ripper to attract stiff competition.
Then at 3pm, back on the city’s southern fringe, all eyes will be on an updated character charmer at 2 Hill St in Parkside.
The 1900-built bay-windowed villa sits on a 445sqm allotment, has three bedrooms and offers some 200sqm of indoor and outdoor living space.
It’s been held by its current owners for the past 26 years, and now gives you the opportunity to call it home.
Parkside homes are always in demand, so this one is bound to be an exciting auction.
