Students thank their favourite teachers

Every child deserves access to a quality education, but that can’t happen without the passion, commitment and skill of teachers.

That’s why initiatives like Australia’s Best Teachers are so important in the pursuit of education equality.

Few people would question the role that education plays in shaping lives, communities, even economies, and that every child deserves access to a quality education.

And while parents, friends, communities and extended families all play critical roles in raising and educating our children, we often forget to acknowledge those who dedicate their lives to it – teachers.

I’ve seen in my own life, and now in my children’s, the profound impact a good teacher can have on those they teach.

News Corp’s Australia’s Best Teachers series is presented in partnership with Officeworks, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools, Education Perfectand Big Ass Fans. Read more on the series here.

Why I love my teacher

Teachers equip our kids with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate the future ahead with lessons on everything from resilience to the Roman Empire, digital literacy to denominators, and so much more.

They spark imaginations, open doors and unlock potential, giving kids of all backgrounds and abilities the keys to lifelong learning.

At Officeworks, we believe that every child should have equitable access to a quality education, no matter their circumstances.

For more than 30 years, we’ve been helping students, teachers and schools make bigger things happen through access to quality and affordable supplies and educational resources.

Through our ongoing partnerships with The Smith Family, the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation, and education-focused organisations around Australia, and thanks to the generosity of our team and community, we’re proud to have helped more than 60,000 students who need it most.

We remain committed to supporting strong educational outcomes for all students, but we know that simply doesn’t happen without the hard work and passion of teachers.

That’s why we’re proud to once again support the Australia’s Best Teachers initiative, helping to showcase and celebrate inspiring, innovative and dedicated teachers around the country.

To champion equitable access to education is to champion teachers, to acknowledge their critical role, tireless work, and the need to support and celebrate them.

The Australia’s Best Teachers initiative is an invitation for all of us to say thank you and to reflect on the profound impact teachers have on their students’ lives and futures, and to advocate for them now and into the future.

So, to the educators: the people who nurture the talent of young Australians, who go above and beyond every day, and who are making equal access to education a reality, I say a most heartfelt “thank you”.
