Zachia Przybylkiewicz’s sideswipe antics captured on Snapchat

A 20-year-old man who sideswiped a car and did a runner made a crucial mistake that landed him in court.

A man who recklessly sideswiped a car and had his actions filmed by friends was caught out when the victim saw the video on a Snapchat group.

Zachia Przybylkiewicz, 20, pleaded guilty in the Geelong Magistrates Court to failing to stop, driving while disqualified and reckless driving.

Police prosecutor Kerrie Ann Maroney told the court Przybylkiewicz was driving his vehicle with two passengers when he lost control and collided with another car at 9.45pm on July 8, 2022.

She said Przybylkiewicz sideswiped the victim’s car and damaged the panel.

A statement of police facts said Przybylkiewicz’s passengers filmed the incident and posted it to a Snapchat group called “shenanigans with the king”.

The court was told after the incident, Przybylkiewicz did not stop to exchange details and continued driving to pick up another passenger in Corio.

Ms Maroney said the victim was a member of the Snapchat group, and showed the video to police.

She said officers located the defendant by using location settings on Snapchat.

The court was also told Przybylkiewicz was driving on a disqualified probationary licence at the time, which had been cancelled on September 22, 2021 for a period of 12 months.

Przybylkiewicz’s lawyer said their client’s offending was influenced by the people he was hanging around with.

The court was also told Przybylkiewicz previously had an issue with drugs, but was now clean.

Magistrate Simon Guthrie sentenced Przybylkiewicz to a 12 month community corrections order and he was ordered to undertake 50 hours of community work.

His licence was suspended for three months and a conviction was recorded.
