Huge flaw in Donald Trump’s $4 billion plan for a ‘Golden Dome’
Donald Trump is attempting to develop a defence system known as the “Golden Dome” for the US – but he’s overlooked one crucial detail.
US politics on the weekend. What could be more delightful? Welcome to our live coverage.
Comedian and movie icon Mike Myers has appeared in a video with new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to take a dig at Donald Trump and the US-led trade war.
The Austin Powers and Shrek icon was shown wearing a Canada ice hockey jersey with “Never 51” on the back.
It sent a clear message amid Donald Trump’s posturing about claiming the country as the 51st state.
“Elbows up, Canada,” the video is captioned, an ice hockey reference which has become a catch cry during the country’s tariff battle with its neighbours.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s next suite of tariffs, set to be imposed on a date he has taken to calling “Liberation Day”, will target “friend and foe”.
Mr Trump is due to roll out the measures on April 2, which according to Bloomberg will see long-time US allies in the firing line for reciprocal tariffs.
The publication reports, however, the new tranche of financial maneuvers will be more focused than the uncompromising tariffs imposed in recent months.
It comes as many tourists are abandoning plans to travel to the US following Donald Trump’s policy decisions.
More on that below.
