The fallout from the stunning security lapse when a journalist was accidentally added to a group chat with senior US officials regarding military strikes in the Middle East continues.

But Donald Trump has brushed of the breach and declared it “lesson learned”.

Awkwardly for the White House, the Senate held hearings with senior national security officials on Tuesday where Democrats brought the group chat up repeatedly.

Hillary Clinton, who was threatened by Donald Trump with prison because of her use of private emails for government business, has replied witheringly to his officials using a private messaging service.

The US, Ukraine and Russia have agreed to the concept of a ceasefire in the Black Sea so Ukraine can start shipping grain without ships being targeted. But, Moscow wants the US to ease sanctions before it commits to the plan.

Also, the White House is signalling that plans for global reciprocal tariffs due to be announced next week may not be as far-reaching as planned. That could be good news for Australia.
