Los Angeles bushfires live updates: Raging Palisades fire heads towards Bel Air
The Palisades Fire is experiencing a flare-up that is threatening more communities, and there’s been a warning things are only getting worse.
The mammoth bushfires in Los Angeles have now claimed at least 13 lives with fears high winds could worsen the blazes.
There are concerns that the true death toll could be higher with entire communities decimated.
Almost 200,000 people have been displaced and around 10,000 structures have been destroyed, along with 35,000 acres of land.
The Palisades, Eaton and Hurst and fires were still burning out-of-control in Los Angeles on Saturday, four days since they began ripping across the county.
The Palisades Fire is experiencing another flare-up that is threatening more communities, including the celebrity hot spot Bel Air as the raging inferno inches closer east of the city.
Portions of the Brentwood and Encino neighbourhoods in west LA were told to evacuate after the blaze on Friday evening local time.
As of Saturday, most of the LA wildfires had improved containment, but Palisades - the biggest of them all - was still burning out-of-control.
• Palisades fire now 11% (previously 8%)
• Kenneth Fire now 80% (previously 50%)
• Hurst Fire now 76% (previously 70%)
• Lidia Fire now 98% (previously 75%)
• The Archer Fire remains at 0% containment.
