Royal fan Ms Ranow said the Princess of Wales was “welling up” as she spoke to the children.

Prince Louis’ comments relating to the Queen and the late Prince Philip, who died in April 2021, reveal a sensitive side to the little boy who charmed the world with his Platinum Jubilee antics.

It has been a massive week for Prince Louis and his siblings.

As well as the death of their beloved great-grandmother, the youngest child and his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, started at their new school.

Prince Louis started pre-prep at the prestigious Lambrook School near Ascot in Berkshire alongside Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 7.

In images released just hours before Prince William dashed to Balmoral to be with the Queen, the siblings were seen entering the school with their parents for an orientation day.

Catherine stayed at home in Windsor with the children while their father rushed to Scotland along with other senior royals.

The family have relocated from Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Great Park and the children’s new school is just a 20-minute drive away.
