A woman in her 70s has been rescued after falling 15m down an embankment while picking flowers on a roadside in the Tablelands in Far North Queensland.

On Sunday afternoon, two Queensland Fire Department crews attended the scene of a technical rescue in Watsonville, 31km south-west of Atherton, just before 3pm.

It is understood a woman was picking flowers on the side of the road when she slipped and fell.

A QFD spokeswoman said crews then rescued the woman using a ladder slide and a basket stretcher.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the woman sustained an injury to her forehead, as well as minor injuries to her arms, legs and back.

She was transferred to Atherton Hospital in a stable condition.
