Age: 34
Suburb: Richmond, Victoria
What are you up to at the moment?
I’m currently on tour with my new stand-up show, Thanks For Being Here, and hosting Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel, 4-6pm weekdays on Nova.
How would you describe yourself?
Irritating but never a dull moment.
How do you think others describe you?
Irritating but never a dull moment.
What is most important to you?
Laughter. I love to laugh, make others laugh … and, every now and then, laugh at the misfortune of others.
What is the last thing you read, watched, ate, listened to?
Like the rest of the world, I just finished Adolescence on Netflix and ate a cold slice of pizza.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be a comedian. Or a pilot. Or the foreign affairs minister!
What has been the biggest obstacle you have overcome in your life?
Realising that not everyone is going to like you and you can’t make them. And that’s totally fine.
If you had one wish, what would it be?
A never-ending packet of Tim Tams, of course!
Tell us a secret. What is one thing people may not know about you?
I’m an avisexual. That’s someone who is obsessed with planes. I love them. How they get in the air blows my mind. I’ll never understand it and that’s the joy.
What has been your proudest moment?
Getting to open for my hero, Joan Rivers; in my opinion the greatest comedian of all time.
What has been your toughest period?
I broke five ribs last year. That was tough! You get no sympathy for broken ribs and you can’t laugh!
What do you wish we could do more about? As in an issue or problem facing the world?
I wish we could all just chill out. Probably best I didn’t become the foreign affairs minister, huh?
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
My superpower is picking a fake from the real deal. Sounds very Real Housewife-y of me!
What is the kindest thing anyone has ever said to you?
You can have the last piece – anyone I’ve ever had a meal with.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Why?
I would change everything. I’ve already had a good crack at my face. Why not? Variety is the spice of life.
Joel Creasey’s Thanks for Being Here tour continues at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on May 9 and Chatswood’s The Concourse on May 10, before heading to Perth and Brisbane. Tickets at livenation.com.au
