Race 1 – QTIS Maiden Plate (900m)

Miss Elley for trainer Greg Hickmott and jockey Bonnie Thomson:

“It is a very heavy track, it is not a Heavy 9, it might be a Heavy 20,” Thomson said.

“The horse is improving, she is still really immature but she has come through a lot from her last start and we have fixed a few of her issues up.

“She is good and still has a lot to learn.”

The first event was delayed as Fure, trained by George Tsakissiris, played up on the way to the barriers and tipped off hoop Emily Cass.

Cass bounced up soon after and walked away from the fall.

The apprentice has avoided serious injury.

Race 2 – Class 1 Handicap (1000m)

Yalanji for trainer Janel Ryan and jockey Graham Kliese:

“It was a good run the other day at home, he might have needed the run,” stable representative Ronnie Ryan said.

“He is only a gross little bloke and will just get better with racing.

“He is not a big horse and he has got a lot of weight for a Class B horse.

“I will just need to jump him up in class to get less weight on.

“He can work on the track better than what he has done so far.”

Race 3 – Benchmark 65 Handicap (1000m)

District wins well.

District for trainer Ricky Ludwig and jockey Krysten Swaffer:

“I thought he would be too good for them and he was,” Ludwig said.

“Krysten rode the horse well.”

Race 4 – Class B Handicap (1200m)

Regal Heart for trainer Alex Malliff and jockey Graham Watson:

“You just need to give her some room, that is all she needed,” Malliff said.

“She was always going to love the wet track.”

Race 5 – Benchmark 45 Handicap (1500m)

Hot Top for trainer Fred Wieland and jockey Nor Yadi:

“What can you say about it? Well, he has won and has been a long time since he has done that,” Wieland said.

“It might be almost two years since he has won, but he has today.”
