Teenage boy drowns at Lake Leschenaultia in Chidlow, in Perth Hills

Emergency crews rushed to the lake, a popular spot during the school holidays, but the boy could not be saved.

A teenage boy has died after being pulled from a popular lake in Perth.

Emergency crews were called to Lake Leschenaultia in Chidlow, in the Perth Hills, about 50km east of the city on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency first aid was given, but the 17-year-old could not be saved.

At 4pm, police confirmed the boy had died.

“Sadly, the 17-year-old male swimmer was declared deceased,” WA Police said.

His death is being treated as non-suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Leschenaultia is a popular recreational lake for families, and water sports, particularly during school holidays.
