QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT REVEALS BORDER CALL

CRUCIAL JUNIOR LEAGUE MEETING POSTPONED
But the early move to Stage 3 is the news community sporting bodies have been waiting for.
Every major sporting association in Far North Queensland, excluding rugby league, has announced plans to return in July.
AFL Cairns and FNQ Football are set to kick-off their competitions on July 11, with Cairns Hockey and Cairns Netball beginning later in the month.
FNQ Rugby is set to kick off on July 25.
FNQ Football administrator Alex Srhoj described the announcement as brilliant news at the perfect time.
Srhoj and football officials have been working on draws and schedules for the new-look, compressed 2020 season, and the relaxing of restrictions will make their jobs much easier moving forward.
“It will be brilliant for us, and it will be closer to normal after that,” he said.
“It’s great for the players, coaches, parents, officials, and it gives us all something to look forward to.
“It couldn’t come at a better time.”
Cairns District Rugby League cancelled their senior competitions at a meeting on June 1, while Cairns District Junior Rugby League presidents will meet Thursday night to determine if they will run a competition.
Other social and competitive sports have outlined return to play guidelines.
