‘We could not be happier’: Abbey Holmes expecting first child with husband Keegan Brooksby

Television broadcaster Abbey Holmes is “on cloud nine” after announcing she’s expecting her first child, sharing the exclusive details about the start of her pregnancy with the Herald Sun.

Television broadcaster Abbey Holmes is “on cloud nine” after revealing she’s expecting her first child with husband Keegan Brooksby.

The Channel 7 footy commentator and former AFLW player shared the happy news with family over Christmas and starts this new year with her dream gift.

“Keegan and I have shared a very busy year, but 2025 is set to be our biggest and best yet,” Holmes told the Herald Sun.

“We could not be happier to welcome our first child into the world, later this year.

“We are so excited and grateful to be in this position, as we know how difficult it can be for so many people. We’re on cloud nine and can’t wait for this next chapter.”

Holmes said she discovered her pregnancy just a few weeks after returning home from running the New York Marathon last year.

“As you can imagine, it was a bit of a shock given what I had just put my body through, but I’m in awe of what the human body can do,” Holmes said.

“Keegan and I told our families at Christmas, which was a really special time for us all. We wanted to share our news with as many people as possible in person, so we’ve spent the last few weeks doing that. There were plenty of tears, that’s for sure.

“I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful start to my pregnancy, and we’re soaking up every moment.”

Holmes and Brooksby married in November 2023 in a stunning ceremony at Uluru in the Northern Territory. She will work through the upcoming footy season.

“I’ll absolutely still be on air for Seven’s footy coverage this year, before enjoying everything that motherhood throws at me,” she said.

“Everyone at Seven has been so supportive and they’re all very excited to welcome another little member into the 7Sport family.”
