She might have reached the pinnacle of Victorian politics, but now Jacinta Allan has another career in her sights — Bollywood.

The premier made the surprise confession on day four of her five-day Indian visit on Thursday, saying she wanted a part in a Bollywood film.

“I have a bit of a dream to be the first Victorian premier in a Bollywood film,” Ms Allan revealed.

“I’m very happy to be an extra in the back sipping on a cup of tea, part of the great Bollywood history and tradition.

“I don’t need that big of a role, I assure you, but it’s also just that one extra thing that I can do, I’d be so proud to do to show you how Victoria is proud of our Indian community, proud of our Indian student, and proud, very proud, of the Indian Victorian film industry.”

The comments came at the Delhi premiere of My Melbourne, an anthology of short films focused on life in Melbourne for Victorian Indians.

Ms Allan was joined by a host of Indian film luminaries, including founder and director of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Mitu Bhowmick Lange.

“It certainly blows my mind that so many successful Bollywood movies are filmed in Victoria, from the unforgettable Chak de India, filmed in Victoria’s State Hockey Center, to Chandu Champion, and of course, My Melbourne,” Ms Allan said.

“And certainly as premier I could not be prouder of that, because it tells that story of that friendship and relationship of India and Victoria in full colour, full living colour, full surround sound.

“And I know Indian Victorians are proud of it too, and we know how they line up to watch the Bollywood superstars that come to our shores, lining up in their thousands and thousands for auditions to star or even just be an extra in one of the shots.

“And just a bit of a plug to everyone here tonight, the next time you guys are putting out a casting call, can you send me an invite?”
