Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers

Two high-profile Melburnians are being touted to join the board of the MCG Trust.

Board positions are much desired and The Source has heard that Eddie McGuire and Sally Capp are under consideration to join the organisation.

McGuire was diplomatically non-committal when asked about any possible appointment, while the former Melbourne Lord Mayor denied all knowledge.

But the rumours persist, and both Eddie and Sally are in favour among Labor circles, and the state government makes the board appointments.

The duo, both with a rich Collingwood pedigree, would be a natural fit for the city’s home of sport.

The trust is one of Melbourne’s prestige organisations and has oversight over the stadium which is run by the Melbourne Cricket Club. The next major project for the venue is the revamp of the Shane Warne Stand.

Board members are not paid but can attend any event at the famous ground.

The trust’s chair is former Premier Steve Bracks.
