Police probe deaths of woman and man at home in Dandenong North

Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a home in Melbourne’s southeast before a man, who was found injured, later died at the scene.

The deaths of two people at Dandenong North are under police investigation.

A woman was found dead inside a home on Kaye Court just before 1.30pm.

An injured man was then located by emergency services outside the home.

Medical treatment was provided but he died at the scene.

The man and woman were a couple both in their 80s.

Detectives are treating the deaths as a likely murder-suicide.

The elderly man called police after the woman was killed inside the home.

He was found bleeding in the driveway and was worked on by firefighters but he died at the scene.

The couple have lived at the Dandenong North address for many years and have had no previous reports of family violence.

Forensic investigators and members from the local family violence division are probing the deaths.

Victoria Police Inspector Rodney Maroney said it was a tragic outcome for the elderly couple.

“A tragedy for all, in particular the family themselves,” he said.

“Neighbours are quite devastated as well because they’ve lived in the area for quite some time.

“It’s tough for all.”

Insp. Maroney said the case will sit with the family violence division and they will prepare a report for the coroner.

“Postmortems will be conducted, investigations of the scene will be conducted to see if it does amount to be a murder-suicide and nothing else,” he added.

“But at this stage, it looks like that’s the case, nobody else has been involved to this point.”
