Shocking footage has captured the moment a gunman opened fire at the Rebels clubhouse in Sunshine West, as detectives probe what sparked the violent incident.

Outlaw bikie shooting caught on CCTV

Shocking footage of an outlaw bikie gang shooting has been released by police on the one year anniversary of the incident at the Rebels clubhouse in Sunshine West.

On this day last year, a 30-year-old Roxburgh Park man took himself to Footscray Hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower body.

Echo taskforce detectives believe the shooting happened at the outlaw motorcycle gang’s clubhouse on Fairbarn Rd, Sunshine West, and now have CCTV footage of the attack.

It shows three men being chased from the clubhouse, and as they flee to a vehicle, one of them turns around and fires a gun.

This is the shot that is believed to have injured the victim.

“Investigators are considering the possibility the shooting is the result of a rivalry between outlaw motorcycle gangs or perhaps an internal dispute within the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

CCTV also captures a vehicle sussing out the area around 6.45pm before returning at 7.30pm.

Shortly after, the group of men are seen running back to the vehicle, which then takes off at speed.

“A man fires a shot in the direction of the victim while he’s running back towards the car,” the spokeswoman added.

The 30-year-old victim turned up at the hospital around 8pm that night. Police say it was a targeted attack.

The victim, believed to be a patched member of the Rebels, has so far refused to co-operate with detectives.

He was also known to police prior to the 2023 shooting.

Detective Acting Inspector Ash Ryan, from bikie busting Echo Taskforce, said they would not give up on solving who was behind the attack.

“Over the past year, detectives have followed up a number of avenues of enquiry in relation to this shooting and we are hopeful that with the release of the CCTV and images, we will have more people come forward with information,” he said.

“Investigators still believe it was a targeted incident, but we are keen to speak to anyone who has knowledge of those involved and what the motivation for the shooting might have been – whether that be a result of a rivalry between clubs, or an in-house dispute within the Rebels OMCG.”

He added: “We’re also keen to speak to anyone who might be able to identify the vehicle or has information on its current location.

“Any indiscriminate use of a firearm in this manner is concerning for police and we will do absolutely everything in our power to bring those involved before the court.”

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the attack, or has dashcam footage or any other information that can assist police to come forward.
