Lynn Gilmartin’s horror Qantas flight as chunk of wing appears to snap off

Australian actor and World Poker Tour host Lynn Gilmartin has spoke of her shock after being on a Qantas flight when a chunk of the wing appeared to break off.
Gilmartin was flying from Sydney to Los Angeles when she posted to social media a video of the wing with a section damaged while landing.
“What is going on at @qantas?? Our plane had a power issue,” the post said.
“No TVs were working, no lights in most of the cabins, most seats wouldn’t recline.
I even heard some toilets were overflowing.
“BUT THEN a chunk of the wing snapped off, dropping down on California somewhere.”
Gilmartin said it had taken her hours to decide if she should post about the incident as she has been a loyal Qantas flyer for nearly two decades but she was no longer impressed with the carrier’s customer service.
“It (Qantas) had the most immaculate reputation, so it’s been so disappointing to watch the steep decline in customer service... and now safety?” she continued.
A Qantas spokesperson said the wing slat was looked at upon arrival in Los Angeles.
“It was the slat on the wing which was seen and used during take off and landing,” the spokesperson said.
“I wouldn’t say it was a chunk. The flight landed smoothly and safely into LAX. It was looked at by engineers upon arrival and after a part comes in from Dubai it will be in operation again on Thursday. The A380 is very popular and it’s a very busy time of year.”
The spokesperson said the in-flight entertainment “was out for most of the flight and we have since compensated passengers”.
Gilmartin, who anchors the World Poker Tour on Fox Sports, moved onto Las Vegas where she’ll be working for the next two weeks.
It’s another incident on a Qantas flight within a few weeks.
Last month a Qantas flight was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after taking off from Adelaide with three Liberal politicians caught up in the ordeal.
The Canberra-bound flight was only briefly in the air before the plane reportedly filled with smoke, forcing a return to Adelaide Airport.
In July a Qantas flight with 63 people on board made an emergency landing at Mildura after a mid-air drama when the plane “lost hydraulics on its wing flaps”.
