The brother of Socceroo Garang Kuol has been arrested over a pub car park shooting in Melbourne’s west.
Kuol Mawien Kuol gave the Herald Sun the finger as detectives marched him through Melbourne Airport on Thursday night after extraditing him from South Australia.
Kuol and another man were arrested at Victor Harbour, south of Adelaide, over an incident at the car park of the Miller’s Inn Hotel at Altona North.
Police allege a car approached a group of men standing in the car park at 2.45am on September 12.
An argument broke out and shots were then fired at the car.
He was charged with reckless conduct endangering life, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and possessing a loaded firearm in a public place.
Kuol, appearing in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday, made no application for bail during a brief filing hearing.
The court heard Kuol had several custody management issues which required medication and was told he suffered from “complex PTSD” and takes medication to treat diabetes.
He was remanded in custody to appear in court via video link on December 10.
Kuol’s younger brother Garang has played for Australia and signed with Newcastle in the English Premier League in 2002.
It was reported that Kuol, a former bank employee, may have brokered that deal.
