A 19-year-old Melbourne man killed in a motorcycle crash in Thailand last week has been described as a “beautiful, kind and caring soul” by co-workers as his family and friends come to terms with his tragic death.

Young plumber Carlos Guirguis was killed in a high speed motorcycle crash after colliding with another motorist in Koh Samui on Thursday, April 27.

It is believed Mr Guirguis was attempting to overtake the motorist when they collided, throwing him off his bike into a road sign.

A statement from Thai police painted a grisly picture of the accident, saying Mr Guirguis was found with a “serious wound” and there was “a lot of blood flowing.”

“A Honda brand motorcycle was found parked on its side next to the sign of a 7-Eleven convenience store. Nearby, the body of a white foreign man was found,” the statement read.

A family member of Mr Guirguis, Mounir Zakhary, said they were reeling from the tragedy.

“It is with deep sorrow that I write to inform you of the tragic passing of Carlos Guirguis, who left us unexpectedly on 27/03/2025,” he posted on Facebook.

“Our family is still processing this profound loss, and we are finding comfort in the support of those around us during this incredibly difficult time.

“At the moment, we are still working out the details regarding the funeral arrangements, and we do not yet have a confirmed date.”

Neighbourhood Plumbing in Tullamarine, where Mr Guirguis worked, also posted a heartfelt message about their colleague who was “taken too soon”.

“It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to one of our own, Carlos Guirguis,” they said.

“Loved by all, he was a beautiful, kind and gentle soul who brought warmth everywhere he went. His infectious smile lit us all up and his genuine care for others was felt by each of us.

“Taken too soon, he remains close to our hearts. We will remember his laughter, kindness and countless moments that made him so special. Rest Easy Carlos, we love you”

Mr Guirguis was one of two Australian residents reported to have died at the holiday destination last week with Sunshine Coast woman Brooke Coates also found dead while visiting Ao Nang Beach.
