Victorians are being warned of major road and rail disruptions this winter, with Flinders St closed for three weeks.
Both lanes of Flinders St between Swanston and Elizabeth streets will be shut from June 21 as a stormwater drain is installed as part of Metro Tunnel works.
The eastbound lane on Flinders St will be closed until the end of the year, as well as the eastbound lane of La Trobe St between Swanston and Elizabeth streets.
Tunnelling will begin this winter on the North East Link to build the 6.5km tunnels, while work continues on all six stations of Suburban Rail Loop East between Cheltenham and Box Hill.
SRL works will result in lane and road closures across the Burwood Highway, Clayton Rd and Nepean Highway.
To make way for a 2.5km cycling superhighway as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project above Footscray Rd, lanes will be closed in both directions between Shepherd Bridge and Waterfront Way until late August.
A citybound closure between Dock Link Rd to Appleton Dock Rd will be in place for two weeks from late August.
In Melbourne’s northwest, Maribyrnong Rd will be closed in both directions across the Maribyrnong River Bridge from the evening of Friday, June 28 until Monday July 15 as tram tracks, poles and power lines are replaced during the school holidays.
In Geelong, coaches will replace trains on the Geelong and Warrnambool lines from Saturday June 15 until Sunday August 25 as two stations are upgraded and two level crossings removed.
Buses will replace trains at times on the Belgrave, Lilydale, Pakenham, and Frankston lines as six new stations prepare to open and another seven boom gates will be removed.
