Andrew Crisp has been serving as the interim chief executive of the troubled plagued organisation and has now been chosen to head the board.

'You're kidding me?': Peta Credlin blasts newly appointed Ambulance Victoria CEO

Andrew Crisp will become the head of the Ambulance Victoria board after finishing up as term as interim CEO later this year.

Mr Crisp was revealed as the new board chair on Monday afternoon and is seen as a wise choice after being a steady pair of hands while serving as the interim chief executive of the troubled-plagued organisation since 2024.

He will stay in the top job until June 30 and will be replaced by Jordan Emery from Ambulance Tasmania.

As acting CEO Crisp has had to oversee a number of issues including responding to allegations of staff holding illegal gatherings during the height of the pandemic in September 2021.

However, he has not been without controversy.

His tenure got off to a rocky start when he had to front media explaining why he was taking leave for seven weeks just one week after replacing former boss Jane Miller who resigned amid a lengthy industrial dispute and a resounding union vote of no confidence in the agency’s executive.

Minister for Ambulance Services Mary-Anne Thomas said he’s new appointment was a good fit.

“Andrew Crisp’s deep understanding of emergency management, and his commitment to the workforce and community safety, will see him continue to play a significant role in the future of Ambulance Victoria.”

“His strong leadership has been critical in helping the service navigate a challenging period over the past 10 months – his passion and wealth of knowledge have been invaluable.”

The Government also thanked the outgoing Board Chair Shelly Park who is headed to the board of the Royal Women’s Hospital.

“We also send our sincere thanks to Shelly Park whose experience and passion have been instrumental during her time as Board Chair – I look forward to seeing the great work she will do in her new role at the Women’s.”
