Joel Selwood has bravely delivered a moving and emotional address to his work colleagues at Channel 7.
The grieving former Geelong skipper, who lost his beloved brother Troy at the start of February, spoke to his footy family last week.
One of those there at NEP Studios in South Melbourne, where Channel 7 had just hosted a media launch for its footy coverage, said it was the most classy and courageous address he’s heard.
Selwood, the 355 game superstar and Cats premiership captain in 2022, has been a commentator with Seven since joining late in 2023.
Just days after he delivered a heartfelt eulogy at the funeral of Troy, who passed away suddenly at age 40, the father of two was again inspiring and displaying true leadership qualities.
The four-time premiership hero left some in the room, which included AFL boss Andrew Dillon, in tears after he spoke.
On February 14 Troy was remembered by thousands of mourners at GMHBA Stadium where he had worked with the Cats for more than a decade as a player, administrator and scout.
Joel Selwood will be a special commentator for Seven in season 2025, featuring on Sundays.
