A woman made a lucky escape after a fire tore through her home in Annandale on Monday but heartbreak struck as one of her beloved pet dogs didn’t make it out.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Marabou Drive at around 5.43am, with three Queensland Fire Department crews arriving to find flames “well involved” in one corner of the single-storey home.
Police said the fire was called in after a person walking passed the home noticed smoke coming from inside and helped evacuate the sole female occupant.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene and she was in a stable condition.
Fire crews said sadly one of her dogs was found dead inside the home.
The fire was brought under control around 6.18am and a crime scene was declared as fire investigators comb through the charred remains to determine what sparked the blaze.
