A fridge is believed to have caused an overnight house fire in Mount Low which resulted in two residents being taken to Townsville University Hospital.
Emergency services were called to a house on Loriston Road just after 11.30pm on Tuesday.
A Queensland Fire Brigade spokesman said crews arriving at the scene six minutes later could see smoke and fire coming from the single-storey house.
The property’s residents were successfully evacuated.
The fire burning in the roof cavity was understood to have spread from an external fridge.
It was extinguished at 12.50am on Wednesday, with fireys finishing up at the scene at 3.15am.
Queensland Ambulance said in a statement that uninjured patients were transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said they were not treating the fire as suspicious at this time, and the fire brigade’s investigation was ongoing.
