It’s been almost one year to the day that a UK DJ turned NQ DJ and promoter debuted an event that would have music lovers rallying every couple of months to breathe life into the drum and bass scene in Townsville.
Now, the brains behind TSV DNB, Jack Lindop (DJ Jack Bussit), has reflected on a successful first year of the events and shared how he couldn’t be happier with the success and outpour of support he’s received as he prepares for a big birthday celebration.
On April 11 TSV DNB will host its major birthday event at Otherwise on Flinders Street with interstate performer DJ Yasmin and locals NVK (Natural Vaughn Killer) and Pika among others.
“NVK who is Vaughn Kim, we’ve been friends for three years he’s been with me since day dot,” Lindop said.
“He’s an absolute monster, he’s just going to the top as far as his skillset’s concerned. Pika, a Townsvill-born and bred lad again he’s an absolute monster.
“My goal was to get to the point where TSV DNB was run by Townsville people.”
Lindop who will also perform on the night has already taken Townsville by storm releasing daily content online and has amassed more than 10,000 followers on Instagram since his debut event.
He reflected on the last year, revealing the events had reached a level he didn’t expect.
“The debut event was absolutely massive, and since then, I’ve done an event every two months, and each one seems to be growing and brings in consistent legends following it,” he said.
“There’s been nothing but positive feedback from the last 12 months, which has been an amazing part of it all. The diversity of people who have been coming has been great, 18-year-olds who haven’t got a clue and they’ve realised what it is, to 45-year-olds and 60-year-olds.
“To people who loved the music back in the day and moved to Townsville 20 years ago and it’s never been here, so it’s just about growing the love for the genre itself.”
It’s only just the beginning for the DJ as he has his sights set on bringing more DNB to Townsville dancefloors.
Tickets for the event are on sale now at the TSV DNB website.
