Police have pulled a stolen car from the Ross River, after earlier warning boaties to avoid the area as they worked to retrieve it.

UPDATE, 2pm:
Police have pulled a stolen car from the Ross River this afternoon.
The submerged car caused the closure of two boat ramps at the South Townsville facility on Saturday morning.
About 1pm, a blue Toyota HiLux was pulled from the river and loaded onto the back of a tow truck.
Police divers from Brisbane flew up to help retrieve the vehicle.
No one was inside the car.
BREAKING
POLICE have warned boaties to keep clear of a popular Townsville boat ramp as they try to retrieve a submerged stolen car.
Crews were called to the Ross River boat ramp around Sixth Ave, South Townsville where a stolen car had been pushed into the water.
A police spokeswoman said the car was submerged about 3.30am by a group of people who then fled the scene in another car.
Townsville boaties - please exercise extreme caution in and around the Ross River boat ramp on Sixth Avenue, South Townsville. Avoid the area if possible.

Police were at the scene on Saturday morning guarding the closed off area.
A buoy about 30m from the shore marked where the vehicle had submerged.
Two boat ramps were closed as crews waited for police divers to arrive in Townsville from Brisbane.
Boaties were urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid the area if possible.
