TOWNSVILLE City Council is urging residents to prepare their properties ahead of the first king tide of the year.
King tides are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday next week and will reach a peak of 3.84m at 9.26am on Wednesday.
There is a possibility the tides may be higher than expected due to rainfall experienced in recent weeks.
Residents living in or visiting areas such as South Townsville, Railway Estate, Hanran St and Ogden St may be affected.
Residents should observe all warnings and road closures and move any valuables and cars that could be impacted by the saltwater flooding if they are concerned.
