IT’S back to the future for the North Queensland Cowboys as they reveal their new jerseys today.
The team’s new jersey will have favourite features from previous years and a bit of a retro look.
It is a throwback to the original 1995 uniform with a “modern influence”.
Cowboys chief executive officer Jeff Reibel said the jersey was fittingly themed.
“Ahead of a landmark 25th year for the club, in which we will move into our new home, we wanted our jersey to pay homage to our foundations,” he said.
“On Friday 13 March we will see our team run out in these fantastic jerseys for the first time and we will no doubt take a moment to savour how far we’ve come.”
The Cowboys will wear the jerseys on the field for the first time in next year’s opening game at the North Queensland Stadium against the Brisbane Broncos.
In a recent photoshoot arranged by the club, captain Michael Morgan is wearing the home jersey and Jake Clifford the away jersey with their new home ground in the background.
Chief marketing officer Jacqui James-Eggins said the reaction behind the scenes to the new look had been extremely positive.
“When we did the shoot with Morgo and Cliffo to prepare for the jersey launch, they immediately recognised the heritage look and feel and were excited that it had been incorporated into a modern jersey worthy of a new stadium,” she said.
In a nod to the past, the jersey is mostly white unlike the last two years where it has mostly been navy. In the club’s first in 1995, the uniform was mostly white, similar to next season’s.
People can pre-order the new jerseys from the Cowboys Team Shop online and instore.
