It is not always easy for army spouses and families to carve out their own careers while their loved ones are constantly moved around the country.
For Elizabeth Farrugia, it was time she put her career first instead of her husband’s.
Ms Farrugia met her husband, Trevor five years ago on the Sunshine Coast and they married last September.
The couple have moved around the country extensively with Trevor’s postings as an infantry soldier with the Australian Defence Force.
As an army spouse, Ms Farrugia has had to sacrifice her work ambitions and dreams to follow her husband for his job.
After relocating to Townsville from Wagga Wagga three weeks ago, Ms Farrugia will be opening her own business Lush Lash and Co Townsville on Tuesday.
Ms Farrugia said the opening of Lush Lash symbolised her thirst to put down roots in Townsville.
“It is amazing, I have always wanted somewhere with my name on the door and I thought I can’t for one more second let his career be more important than mine,” she said.
“To see my idea in my head turn into real life is so wild and it is the best feeling.” Ms Farrugia said her husband was supportive of her quest for a normal working life.
