A Kirwan man is in serious condition after allegedly being stabbed when a fight broke out at a Mount Isa pub.

Police will allege an altercation broke out between two men at a licenced premises on Miles St during which a 31-year-old Kirwan man was stabbed at about 11.10pm on Saturday.

The man was transported in a serious condition to Mount Isa Hospital with multiple wounds to his chest and abdomen.

Police arrested a 31-year-old Holmview man in the car park of the licenced premises.

He has been charged with one count each of wounding and going armed so as to cause fear. He was denied police bail and is due to appear before the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Monday, October 24.
