A North Queensland couple is enduring every parent’s worst nightmare as their beautiful two-year-old daughter waits to undergo surgery for a brain tumour just weeks before she’s due to become a big sister.

Maria and Marty Savorgnan, along with their cheerful two-year-old daughter, Elenna, were flown down from Townsville to Brisbane last week after scans revealed a tumour on Elenna’s brain.

Further examinations have tragically shown that the tumour has spread throughout her brain and spinal cord.

Elenna is now awaiting emergency surgery and treatment, while her parents grapple with this devastating news.

The timing of this ordeal is particularly challenging, as Maria is 36 weeks pregnant and is expecting to give birth to their second child this month.

She’s now expected to give birth in Brisbane in a separate hospital from where Elenna will undergo her treatment.

The community has been deeply moved by the Savorgnan family’s plight. Friend Ashley De-Campo has launched a GoFundMe campaign, which has raised $17,000 so far, to help the family during this difficult time.

“As it has all happened very suddenly and numerous tests and treatments still need to occur, they are unsure how long their battle will be and how long they’ll have to stay in Brisbane for,” Ms De-Campo said.

“Please help support the Savorgnan family as they face every family’s worst nightmare.

“Every dollar to take away from the financial stress in this journey is appreciated.”
