Rescue helicopter needed after woman seriously injured by cow at Basalt

The rescue helicopter has flown to the aid of a woman who was seriously injured by a cow at a property west of Townsville on Thursday afternoon.

A QAS spokesman said emergency services responded to reports of a woman being badly injured by a cow at a private rural property in Basalt at 3.12pm.

He confirmed that she had suffered injuries to her shoulder, arm, and neck.

A rescue helicopter has landed at the scene to transport her to hospital.

Meanwhile, traffic was blocked after a motorist took out a set of traffic lights in Condon on Thursday.

Queensland Police Service confirmed that a vehicle had struck and knocked over the lights on Beck Drive, blocking north-bound traffic, at 3.39pm.

Multiple emergency crews responded to the incident which required traffic to be diverted.

There are no reports that the incident involves a stolen vehicle.

Queensland Ambulance Service said two males involved in the incident were uninjured and declined transport to hospital.
