Five Townsville families have welcomed their own Christmas miracles into the fold just days before the big day.
Second time mum Jade Singleton called it the most beautiful gift anyone could ever wish for.
“Our little baby Ted arrived just yesterday afternoon,” Jade said.
“It was really special to hold him in my arms for the first time. I love Christmas and the whole family loves it too. It’s going to be double celebrations every year from now.”
Ted’s father Jake and older brother Henry were also on hand to shower the tot with plenty of affection and attention while Jade recuperates.
“Henry’s really happy to have a little brother around. Ted arrived just yesterday afternoon at 2.23pm,” Jade said.
“We were expecting him about then and he got in right on time.”
Despite the festive delivery, the family will have to wait for Boxing Day to spend time with the rest of their relatives, with Jade and Ted expected to leave the Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital on Christmas Day.
“It’s really something magical to welcome a new life into the world over the festive period,” Jade said.
The five little miracles join the over 12,000 babies welcomed into the world in Queensland by the Mater maternity service over 2021.
Midwife business manager Jessica Bailey said the babies arrived with little fuss.
“All the babies were very well behaved during their birth. A few were born visa ceasarian section and the others were born in our birth suites,” Ms Bailey said.
“We actually had seven due to come yesterday and of course, babies being babies they arrive whenever they feel like.”
Ms Bailey called the moment the Christmas tots arrived very special for both the mothers and staff.
“There’s nothing better than being a part of that moment where families get to welcome a new addition,” she said.
“We’re all very blessed to play a role. These babies are going to bring a lot of joy across Christmas.”
