Two people have been taken to hospital as an explosive fire that has engulfed a shed on a rural Burdekin property was brought under control.
Queensland Fire Department confirmed that three crews were heading to the rural location on Bartlett Road in Horseshoe Lagoon west of Ayr and south-west of Townsville at 9.55am on Tuesday morning.
Queensland Ambulance Service have also responded.
Initial reports are that the large shed was well-ablaze and there were fears that fuel were stored inside, along with the tractor.
A QAS spokeswoman said two people had been assessed with smoke inhalation and possible minor facial burns and had been taken to Ayr Hospital at 11.40am.
She said the “large fire” was likely to be a “protracted event”.
QFD said the fire was brought under control just before midday.
The shed had collapsed and fire crews were dampening down hot spots. a spokeswoman said.
One of about six crews that responded to the large fire remained on scene as of 4pm.
Queensland Police Service are investigating the cause of the blaze, with the scene expected to be guarded overnight Tuesday.
A witness who supplied a photograph of the incident said they had heard a number of explosions, most likely fuel or gas containers cooking off.
Emergency crews also responded to a two-car crash outside the Ingham Polling Station at the Tyto Entertainment Complex on McIlwraith St in the Hinchinbrook town.
QAS said an elderly woman in her 70s was being assessed for minor injuries.
Photographs from the incident show that two cars were involved.
Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.
Meanwhile, two patients were assessed for injuries after a two-vehicle accident in Garbutt.
QAS confirmed that it was called to the crash on the intersection of Dalrymple Rd and Greg Jabs Dr at 9.45am on Tuesday morning.
A QAS spokeswoman said paramedics were checking the conditions of two males, describing them as stable.
Queensland Fire Department has one engine on scene.
