Two North Geelong juniors had days out with the bat in the Magpies’ win over Geelong City.

Opener Jack McKee’s unbeaten 56 from 39 deliveries was outdone by Oliver McDonald’s blistering 64 from 36 — pretty handy knocks for youngsters playing at under-13 level.

McDonald hit two sixes and nine boundaries, while McKee hit as many fours and added a maximum himself.

It saw the Magpies set a monster total of 6/210 from 25 overs.

Geelong City started its daunting run chase reeling at 3-0 with Alfred Kemp (3/7) skittling all three batters.

McDonald’s knock was the highest score from any junior across the opening round, with six other players hitting half centuries — including St Joseph’s batter James Whitworth (63*).

North Geelong’s young talent also impressed in the junior girls with Natasha Millard claiming three wickets for just four runs in under-15s, while under-18 batter finished with an unbeaten Lauren Kelly 39 retired.
