The Christmas break has given cricketers across the Geelong region the chance to freshen up, and few deserved that break more than Meredith’s Chesney Milne and Matthew Ringin.
Milne and Ringin have each taken 20 wickets for the season in GCA4 first grade — more than any other GCA men’s player.

Their heroics have seen Meredith rise to second on the ladder, with Milne taking 6-27 in one massive outing.
A couple of spinners aren’t far behind with Murgheboluc’s Jason Grozdanovski (GCA2 first grade) and Highton spinner Fionn Neeson (GCA1 first grade) claiming 19 scalps for the season.
Leopold batter Tom Treble is the leading GCA runscorer for the season with 452 at an average of 50.
The Lions runscorer has hit two hundreds and a half-century so far in GCA2 first grade with a top score of 134
Teesdale’s Casey Meehan is in second spot with 424 runs and four 50s, while St Peters’ Will Ford (406) rounds out the podium.
Alexander Thomson’s Oliver Mahncke and St Peters’ Flynn Calnon — both wicketkeepers — have the most catches in the GCA this season with 13.
Manifold Heights gloveman Damian Stephens has nine catches, four run-outs and three stumpings to his name, while Bell Post Hill’s Matthew Reid has the most stumpings with six to go with eight catches.
In the women’s, Newtown & Chillwell is the clear leader with 424 runs in B grade, 146 more than the next best in Barwon Heads’ Stephanie Theodore.
Geelong City’s Erin Moloney and Newcomb & District’s Rosie Grist both the wicket-taking with 13, and both have best figures of 4-6.
